Report

Kidderminster Lions 4-0 Droitwich Dragons

Goals Harry Dickens Nick Pritchard Ben Maund Tyler Richards

We beat Droitwich Dragons on Kidderminster Harriers FC to complete a league and cup double on Sunday. The opening stages of the game were a bit nervous with both teams struggling to settle on the Harriers pitch in front of a good crowd. We tried to play neat football but didnt manage to find the final pass or create any clear chances in the early part of the game. It all changed with the opening goal from a free kick awarded 25 yards out. Captain Harry Dickens took a wonderful free kick and curled it right into the top corner past the diving Droitwich keeper to spark pile on celebrations. Droitwich came back strongly at us and forced Liam Gwynne into a fine save tipping the ball over the bar to kep us 1-0 up. We settled down well and started to play possession football working the ball round the whole team. Tyler Richards went close to increasing the lead when his long range strike was brilliantly turned on to the post by the Dragons keeper. We did score a second goal before half time when a good passing move was worked over to the right for Nick Pritchard to strike the ball back across the keeper to give us a 2-0 half time lead.
The second half started much like the first with Droitwich now trying hard to get back in the game. We defended well to keep them out although we had a share of good fortune when they struck the underneath of the bar only top see the ball bounce back out off the line. We started to play nice football again and take back control of the game. Ben Maund scored a sensational goal with his left foot strike finding the roof of the net to efectively kill off any chance of a Droitwich fight back.
We finished the game in complete control with the lads passing from the back to the front line through the midfield with everyone getting involved. We then sealed the win with a cross from Ban Maund to Tyler Richards who side foot volleyed the ball in from close range. A great performance from the whole team and Ben Maund was awarded the man of the match trophy to finish off a great day for Kidderminster Lions. Well done lads on another successful season.
